Hey guys! It’s my first official post since my new and improved blog has gone live! I’ve been working hard on this non-stop for the last couple of weeks (thank god for unemployment) and I am ecstatic for you to finally see it. I hope you’re enjoying taking a look around at all the new stuff and don’t forget to subscribe (check the sidebar or the bottom of the page) to get updates every time a new post goes up.
One thing I really want to do on this blog is to pull together everything I’ve been watching, reading, listening to, etc. throughout the month and pick my favorites to share with you. Kind of like a monthly favorites, but much cooler. Because this way, I’m giving you entertainment rather than things to spend money on. That deserves a like, right? So without further rambling, here are all the things you are going to be obsessed with next month.
What I’ve Been Watching…
One Tree Hill
No, I am not late to the party. I started watching this show in 2009 (OK, fashionably late to the party) and it immediately became a favorite. I go back and re-watch it from time to time, so when I got sick at the end of January, it became one of those times. Thanks to unemployment, I’m already on season 6 and falling in love with this show all over again. If you’ve been living under a rock and still haven’t checked out this show, I obviously highly recommend it. This show has epic storylines and lessons, great music, and one of the most genuine cast of characters you will ever see. Trust me, this show is your next obsession. And if it’s not, maybe look in the mirror and re-evaluate your life (she says as kindly as possible).
Edge of Seventeen
I love Hailee Seinfeld (of Pitch Perfect fame), so the minute I saw this movie at Target I was like a kid begging their dad for their 5th Barbie doll. And yes, I asked my dad to buy it for me. Unemployed, remember? I’m not quite sure what I was expecting from this movie, but I was pleasantly surprised. I love movies about teen drama, probably because I never had much of my own. But this is not your typical teenage drama, where the nerd manages to rise up and defeat the “popular kids” to become the “hero” of his own life. Edge of Seventeen hits a different note; one where the hero never really gets everything she ever wanted, but that’s OK. This movie is sarcastic, dramatic, and completely over-the-top at times, which means I loved it dearly. And I genuinely related to Nadine, minus the whole ‘messaging weird stuff to a guy you barely know yet strangely have a huge crush on’ part.
Meghan Rienks’ Vlogs
I’ve been a fan of Meghan Rienks’ YouTube videos for awhile now, and you probably have, too. But did you know she had a vlog channel? And she’s been vlogging every day this month? No? Well then, you’re welcome. I absolutely love Meghan’s sense of humor and no f*cks attitude, so getting to watch her everyday life is an absolute joy to me. Even if she is just prancing through Target or getting a spray tan, I find her genuinely enjoyable to watch (and desperately want to be her best friend). There are only certain people you can enjoy watching just driving around or sitting on their couch, you know? And those people are special.
P.S. If you like vlogs, I recently uploaded a vlog on my YouTube channel and there are many more to come!
What I’ve Been Reading…
Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
I started this series last month and I am currently in the middle of the 3rd book. Although I haven’t finished the series, I am still going to recommend it. Sorry in advance if the end sucks. But even if it does, I’ve been enjoying it so much so far that I still think it’s worth it. The story follows Celaena, a girl who has grown up to be an assassin, as she navigates the world searching for the freedom to be herself. But before she can do that, she has to kill a lot of people. Dramatic gasp. If you love kick-ass female leads, epic storylines, and a touch of fantasy, this book is sure to pull you out of your reading funk. And we know how much of a jerk that guy can be.
What I’ve Been Distracted By On the Internet…
Look, I’ve been a fan of Pinterest for a long time. But holy crap, I have gone crazy this month. This site has always been my go-to for fashion inspiration and delicious recipes, but lately I’ve been loving it for writing and blogging advice. Did you know Pinterest had more than clothes and food?! Honestly, this blog would have been so much worse off had I not discovered and demolished the plethora of blogging and social media advice that site has to offer. Seriously, it has everything. So if you thought Pinterest was just home decor and inspirational quotes, this is your wake-up call. Life is about to get a lot more interesting… and unproductive.
What I’ve Been Listening To…
Paris — The Chainsmokers
I don’t know what it is, but every song by the Chainsmokers has some sort of vibe that I just can’t get enough of. They’re kind of like the more catchy pop version of the 1975. Just like ‘Closer’ (which I still love even though I’ve heard it over 2,000,000 times), ‘Paris’ is so catchy and easy to sing along to over and over again, which is a number one requirement for a girl who can’t help but scream-sing in the car. And let’s be honest, we were all happy when there was another Chainsmokers song on the radio and they stopped playing ‘Closer’ every 10 minutes. Right? Right.
Well, that’s all folks! What were your favorite things in entertainment this month? Let us know in the comments and maybe I’ll include your recommendation next month!
